It is approximately 1.5 kilometres wide, at the southern part scarcely 2 kilometres long and at the northern section easily 3 kilometres. Two small islands are located at each end of Klong Son Bay - Ko Chang Noi in the northwest and Ko Mapring in the southwest.     From the Ranger Station above the Klong Son Bay     There are 2 beaches in Klong Son Bay, the long Chang Noi Beach that extends over the whole bay and the small Halfmoon Beach that faces the mainland. In the north the the two beaches are close together. In the south a river splits the Chang Noi Beach into two parts. At low tide the sea draws far back as at almost all other beaches on Ko Chang.   The Klong Son Bay is popular with the fishermen as a port, since it is quite well protected against the violent winds during monsoon. The village Baan Klong Son is sprawled across a large area. The original section, located directly on the bay, is partly built on stakes in the sea and is mainly inhabited by fishermen. The newer part of the village is situated by the road and many houses are built along the river and into the southeast valley. Beside Wat Klong Son (temple) and a school, there is also a clinic in the village. It is situated 400 metres off the village intersection towards the bay.     There are also small shops, some restaurants and an air-conditioned supermarket located in the village. Approximately 4 kilometres southeast the Nam Yom Waterfall is situated. (See 'What to do on Ko Chang?', 'Waterfalls on Ko Chang'). Arrival & Departure: Baan Khlong Son can be reached from the piers in approximately 15 minutes by taxi for 30 Baht.   If you have advanced bookings you should tell the taxi driver the name of the bungalow resort or the hotel, otherwise you can get the driver to stop anywhere you want by knocking on the car-body. The departure times of the taxis to Dan-Kao-Pier are subject to seasonal change, so check in advance. Because all taxis that operate on the west coast must pass Baan Khlong Son on their way to the piers, you shouldn´t have to wait for a long time at the road. As long as there is space available, the drivers will gladly stop to pick you up. Accommodation is available in the village and around the bay.
