The north coast of Ko
Mak is about 4 kilometres long
and extends from the peninsula in the west to the "Laem
Son” in the east.
There are 3 big bays located: the name of the easternmost
bay is unknown, in the middle the "Aow Talong” is situated,
followed by the biggest bay, the "Aow Tann”.
In the east the north coast ends at the Laem Son. |
|
|
The entire east coast of Ko Mak is flat but the beautiful
beaches are, apart from a few exceptions, mainly sandy.
Only at some spots you will find stony parts. At some
parts mangroves are growing directly at the beach but
mainly the coastline is covered with coconut palms and
deciduous trees.
The north coast is the least developed part of the island.
There are still no accommodations for tourists, just
a few small villages are scattered along the beaches. |
|
|
|
|
Here most of the island inhabitants still
earn their income with fishing or from the profit or
the coconut and rubber tree plantations. There is only
a small, difficult passable jungle path parallel to
the coast that connects the villages.
Those who take the arduous way to the coast will find
deserted beaches and experience the pristine live of
the friendly island inhabitants. |
