| Klong Prao Beach (Haad Khlong Prao),
also often written Khlong Prao Beach, Klong Phrao Beach or Klong Praow Beach, is scarcely a 3,5 kilometre
long sand beach, situated south of White Sand Beach. The beautiful sandy beach
is divided into 3 sections by 2 river estuaries: the Khlong
Plu in the north and the Klong Prao in the south. |

The northern and southern part are both a
good kilometre long and the middle one approximately 1,5 kilometres.
In the north it ends at the rock Laem
Chai Chet. The southern sector, which is called Klong
Makok Beach, ends at a rock that seperates it from
Kai Bae Beach.
The beach is rather flat like almost all along the west coast,
but nevertheless well suitable for bathing. Two small islands,
Ko Suwan and Ko
Rom are located at the southern end of Khlong Prao
Beach. |

The road runs almost everywhere in suitable
distance from the beach and accommodation. Some of the hotels and bungalow resort are almost a kilometre away from it.
There are 3 villages located at Klong Phrao Beach: Baan
Chai Chet in the north, in the middle Baan
Klong Prao, the original village, where you find besides
the school and the temple also a small clinic, and Baan
Map Khangkhao in the south. |

In all villages you find so called "Plazas":
shopping centres with restaurants, travel-agencies, supermarkets and shops.
But also outside of these "Plazas" there are many
shops, bars, restaurants, motorbike rentals and diving schools, all mainly located
at the road along Klong Prao Beach.
Between Baan Chai Chet and Baan Klong Prao, towards Kai
Bae Beach, is the turn-off to the road that leads to the most
popular and well-known waterfall on the island, the Khlong
Plu Waterfall.

Arrival & Departure:
Klong Prao Beach can be reached from the piers in approximately
30 - 40 minutes by taxi. If you have advanced bookings you should tell the taxi driver
the name of the resort or the hotel, otherwise you can get
the driver to stop anywhere you want by knocking on the car-body.
The departure times of the taxis to Dan-Kao-Pier are subject to seasonal change, so check in advance at your resort or in a travel agency. |
