The south coast of Ko Mak is a few kilometres
long. Like all beaches on the islands around Ko Chang,
the sea here also recedes at low tide, so the beach
is about 200 meters wide, whereas it’s only a
few meters wide during high tide. In some parts there
is even no beach at high sea level.
In the northwest, before "Laem Tookata”
there is a small bay (see panorama picture at the bottom).
Unfortunately we neither know the name of this beautiful
bay nor of the beach. |
|
|
The most beautiful beach
of the south coast, the "Khao
Beach”, is located in the
west and extends for a length of about 3 kilometres.
In some parts mangroves are growing directly at the
shore but mainly the coastline is covered by coconut
palm trees.
The beautiful bungalow
resorts "Makathanee
Resort" is located at Khao
Beach. We introduce this resort
on an own page with virtual reality panoramas, photographs,
information and booking possibility: |

Opposite of Khao Beach
the 2 islands Ko Rayang
Nai and Ko
Rayang Nok are located. We also
show Ko Rayang Nok
(left picture) on an own page. There the re-opened "Rayang Phurin Resort" is located which you can also book here. |

More south you will find the Aow Daeng, the "red
bay”. |
|
|
There the beach
is quite flat and not really suitable for swimming.
Further south there are 2 more bays we don’t know
the names. They are also flat, partly stony and also
not really good for swimming.
Apparently sand-flies occur occasionally at the beaches
on the south coast, so you should ask at the bungalow
resorts about the current situation. |

|
In this part of Ko
Mak most of the bungalow
resorts are located. Here you can
see pictures of some of the bungalows:

In some resorts
mopeds, kayaks and surfboards can be rented.
In the west there is a viewpoint located on a hill where
you have a beautiful view over Ko Mak, of some parts
of the beach, of the closer islands and Ko Kood. |
