| Salak Phet Bay (Aow Salak Phet)
in the southeast of Ko Chang measures 3 kilometres in length
and is between 1.5 and 2.5 kilometres wide. |

Beautifully, the islands Koh Mapring, Koh
Phrao Nai and Koh Phrao Nok are situated in the mountain-surrounded
bay.
3 villages, Baan Rong Than, Baan
Salak Phet and Baan Chek Bae,
find protection at the shore of the bay. They are built mostly
on stakes into the sea and are inhabited by fishermen, rubber-
and coconut-farmers.

| Directly at the road, 500 metres north of
Baan Salak Phet is a small clinic. A small police box lies
directly beside. You will also find a new Temple on the way
to the village. Besides there is also a school locate outside Baan Salak Phet.
|
| At the southeast end of Salak Phet Bay,
there is another beach: "Long
Beach" and the "Koh
Chang Remembrance"with a naval shrine
to the memory of the victims of the sea-battle 1941 (see "What
to do on Ko Chang?", "Koh
Chang Remembrance - the sunken Warships").
|
 |
|
On the way to the remembrance you will find
"Long
Beach" and you will also pass one
of the nicest viewpoints of whole Ko Chang (see VR above,
more info here: "What
to do on Ko Chang?", "Viewpoints
on Ko Chang").
Approximately 2 kilometres northeast from Baan
Salak Phet, the 12-storey Ke Rhepet Waterfall
is situated, from where you can enjoy a beautiful view across
the bay (see picture on the right - and "What
to do on Ko Chang?", "Viewpoints
on Ko Chang"). There is another waterfall
located in Salak Phet Bay,
the Klong Nung Waterfall. Unfortunately we don't have any
pictures of it. |

Arrival/Departure:
Since 2006 there is a direct taxi-/boat service, starting
from Trat (more information here: "Ko
Chang Information", "Arrival
and Departure to and from Ko Chang").
At the end of 2006 there was no regular taxi service from
the west coast of Ko Chang
driving to the Baan Salak
Phet, so you have to go there by hired
motorbike or car. Always remain on the main street and you
will automatically arrive at Baan Salak Phet.
Taxis to the piers and/or the west coast of Ko
Chang are not easy to get, so you should
better ask in one of the few resorts.
